What happens to your schemas and data
All tools run in your browser. Schemas, JSON data, samples and generated output are processed on your device and are not sent to any server. The site has no accounts, no advertising and no cross-site trackers, and SchemaStash does not use cookies.
Analytics
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare adds to the pages to count page views. It does not use cookies or track you across sites, and it never receives what you type, paste or drop into the tools. SchemaStash itself adds no other analytics or tracking.
What is stored in your browser
- Your stash (names, descriptions, tags, schemas, samples and dates) is kept in IndexedDB, or in localStorage if IndexedDB is unavailable. It stays until you delete it or clear this site’s data.
- Your last input on each tool page and your option choices are kept in localStorage, so a reload does not lose your work.
- Your theme choice (light, dark or system) is kept in localStorage.
- When you open a schema in another tool with “Open in” or “Validate samples”, it is passed in sessionStorage or as a stash item ID in the address, and read by the next page.
You can remove all of it by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings. Export your stash first if you want to keep it.
Share links
A share link contains the compressed schema (and, if you choose, the sample) after the #. Browsers do not send that part of an address to the server, so the schema is not uploaded when someone opens the link. Anyone who has the link can read the schema, and the link may be kept in browser history or in the apps you paste it into, so share it as you would share the file itself.
Hosting
The site is served as static files by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives standard request information, such as your IP address and browser user agent, when it delivers the pages. Apart from that, the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon described above, and loading the site’s own files (scripts, styles and fonts, some of them only when a tool needs them), the tools make no network requests.
Links to other sites
Pages link to other websites, including our sister sites and other free tools. Those sites have their own privacy practices; following a link takes you to them like any other link.
